Bellevue College Parent Education typically offers a parent-toddler class at our facility on Tuesday mornings, from September through May. It is taught by our parent educator, Janelle Durham, and children's teachers Leng and Cymbric.
Our Daily Schedule
10:00 - 10:30 Free Choice Time
10:30 - 10:50 Opening Circle
10:50 - 11:50 Parent Ed / Free Choice Time
11:55 - 12:00 Closing Circle
During Free Choice time, we have many different activities to choose from. Stations include: art (painting, drawing, stickers and more), play-dough, fine motor skill builders, sensory bin, water table, blocks, trains, pretend play, large motor (gym), and more. In the springtime we add outdoor time on our playground. (Learn more about how play-based learning helps children grow in all areas of child development.)
Circle Times are an opportunity for your child to learn to participate in group classes, as we take turns, sing songs, learn rhymes, play instruments, hear stories, play with the parachute, and practice a letter of the week.
Parent Education sessions feature a discussion with our parent educator. This is intended as a college level class in child development and parenting, and also a support group where you connect with and learn from other parents. Each week, half of the parents attend parent ed while the children have more Free Choice Time, supervised by the teachers and the other parents.
If you have a child who will be between 24 and 36 months on September 1, learn more about the toddler classes in the Bellevue College Parent Education system and register at: https://www.bellevuecollege.edu/parented/classes/toddlers/.
